August and September 2019 Dividend Income

Here are the final dividend numbers from August and September 2019:

August: $1233.26 (versus $671.52 in 2018)
September: $1664.53 (versus $1638.04 in 2018)

Total cumulative dividend income for 2019: $8,705.91

Forward 12-Month Dividends: $12,542.33
Hourly wage based on 40 hour work week (2087 hrs): $6.01/hour
Hourly wage based on non-stop work (8760 hrs): $1.43/hour

Total cumulative option income for 2019: $0.00

My forward 12-month dividend income dropped by about $3000 since I last wrote. This wasn’t due to an unexpected dividend drop, but rather due to selling PGX (a preferred dividend stock ETF that pays about 0.45% per month). I had put some money in there (roughly $91,000) that I was saving for mortgage payments since it is fairly stable and pays a nice monthly dividend.

Unfortunately, that nice boost to my monthly dividend has gone as I have liquidated it and dropped off a check to the bank. On one hand this seems like “wasted money,” on the other hand, I am just trading investments in equities with investments in real estate.

Moving forward I will be also counting dividend contributions from my 401k account. I recently learned that I could move the majority of my 401k balance to a self-directed account at TD Ameritrade. This opens up my 401k to the entire world of stocks, ETFs, and mutual funds.

I’ll be writing more about my new 401k strategy soon.

Good investing!

Scott

  1. Awesome stuff mate. Looks like a nice income per hour (even while sleeping).
I hope the investment in RE pays off for you in the long run.
    Cheers

Thanks for commenting, Buy, Hold Long. We are hoping the real estate investment will turn out well too. We are building a house so will most definitely not be able to sell it for a profit a couple years from now, but the goal is to live here long term and to use it and enjoy it. I’d be happy to get at least what I put into it whenever we decide to sell it, which is likely 30+ years from now and least!

Thanks for posting this article, Scott! As you mention your 401k plan, it’s important that people know what kind of options they have. For further diversification it’s also possible to rollover the 401k plan into a gold IRA. Please check out the article below if the readers are interested in learning more.

Again, thanks for invaluable blog posts. And I urge your readers to click around your website for more interesting articles.
