October 2015 Income

October hasn’t been one of my high payout months, but it still came in respectably at $163.81. This is up 63% from last year but is actually down slightly from its most recent quarter in July. This can be attributed to the fact that the spinoff combination of Baxter and Baxalta pay a little less than the pre-spinoff Baxter…I’m holding both for the long run so aren’t concerned about this small drop.

Cumulative dividends for the year are $3431.91, which is triple what my entire annual dividend was in 2013.

Options: No current put options in play. I closed an AAPL call on Oct 1 for a net profit of $287.95 and was assigned on an AAPL call on Oct 16 for a net profit of $211.98. My total October option income was $499.93.

Super solid income for October, considering it’s a “slow” dividend paying month. I like reading your updates as you highlight several different sources of passive income and not just dividends. Still not ready for options nor P2P lending on my end but always nice to see those results. I see we have a couple names in common for the month. Strong GE for you I see. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Hey Scott,

I noticed that you are taking part in P2P through Lending Club. How have you found this experience? I have done some research on them and they look like a great way to diversify one’s holdings. If you have already written about this in a prior post, let me know and direct me there. I would appreciate reading your thoughts on this!

      Hey Jim,

Lending Club is going well. I’m up to about $78 in expected monthly payments (which include around $18 in interest and the rest in principal repayment). I’ve also had about 10 loans completely paid off in less than 6 months. I wrote about starting Lending Club in a post here: The Plunge into P2P Lending

But your comment reminds me that I should write an update. I’m a little over 6 months into it right now.

      Scott
