March Roth IRA Purchases

I recently made three purchases in the Roth IRA. I have absolutely no clue if the worst from the Covid-19 crisis is behind us or priced into the stocks. In fact, things might continue to get worse before they get better.

What I do know is that the majority of the stocks in my Roth will continue to pay dividends and that by reinvesting these dividends I’ll be much better off in the future. Maybe by waiting a couple more months in cash I’d be able to get even a better deal. 20+ years from now the timing of these buys won’t matter.

With that in mind, here are my latest purchases:

50 shares of Citigroup at $44.1865, adding $102 in annual dividends
20 shares of Aflac at $35.55, adding $22.40 in annual dividends
16 shares of Ventas at $29.1948, adding $50.75 in annual dividends

Forward 12-month dividends from the Roth IRA are: $3303.39

What are you guys purchasing?

Thanks, desidiviend! VTR has come down substantially. It is by far the worst performer in my Roth from a stock price standpoint. Though, with the baby boomers retiring and eventually moving into assisted living places, I have to believe that it will continue to go higher. Happy to acquire some at this price now.

Always nice to see the buying continue despite these volatile times. Like AFL pick up. VTR is another very beaten down stock as is most of the REIT sector. I still think nothing is baked into the market. When companies report we’ll see lower lows even though it’s all expected. The market is headline driven not fundamental. In any case, I will continue to buy every month as well. Put about $2400 last month and will be buying more in April too. Keep up the good work.

Thanks, DivHut. I completely agree about the markets being headline driven. That and algorithmic trading that is driving these large up and down swings. I bet the volatility will continue; I don’t think all the negative effects of Covid-19 shutting down all portions of the economy and entire countries is completely priced in yet.

  4. I added to my AFL position last month as the price fell. Not a lot, but was able to lower my cost basis slightly. Some nice, quality names you added this month Scott!
